Why should you be so sad
the sun is bright and warm, Minushka
please look up to the sky
there's not a cloud today.

Listen, from afar
is a sound of music to be heard
it's a pity that your lover left
but Minushka find someone to dance with!

Waarom zo treurig
bij de warmte van de zon, Minoeshka
kijk toch omhoog
er is geen vuiltje aan de lucht.

Hoor Minoeshka, hoor
klinkt er daar geen dansmuziek ver weg?
Dat je vrijer wegging dat was pech
zoek je maar een ander bij het dansen!

dutch lyric Waarom zo treurig :
Songs W

commentary: Children's dance. The children stand in a circle, holding hands. Line 1-2: they slowly step sidewards (five steps). Line 3-4: idem, in the other way (four steps).

Line 5-8: the children face each other in pairs. They take each others right hand and dance (skipping/bobbing) alongside each other, passing, to the next child in line. They take each others left hand and so on.

Second verse is repeated.

Heel and toe and heel and toe
and slap your hands on both your knees
heel and toe and heel and toe
la la la la la la!

Clap the right hands now, the left hands now
and slap your knees with both your hands
la la la la, la la la la
la la la la la la!

Hak en teen en hak en teen
je beide handen op je knie
hak en teen en hak en teen
la la la la la la!

En je rechter hand, je linker hand
je beide handen op je knie
la la la la, la la la la
la la la la la la!

Robinson, Robinson
you will travel by balloon
above sea, above sea
altogether with your love.

One, two, three, four
we're dancing and we're singing
and we have a lot of fun.
Five, six, seven, eight
mom is blowing out the candle
I say 'nighty night'!

Robinson, Robinson
reizen in een luchtballon
overzee, overzee
met je meisje samen mee.

Een, twee, drie, vier
we dansen en we zingen
en we hebben veel plezier.
Vijf, zes, zeven, acht
moeder blaast de kaarsjes uit
en ik zeg goedenacht!

dutch lyric Robinson Robinson, reizen in een luchtballon :
Songs R

commentary: Children's dance. Description of the dance will follow.
